| Protecting The Pool |

Inflate and install the “air cushion” and reinstall the net or, better yet, install a protective winter cover. The latter will help protect the vinyl liner from the sun’s rays and from debris (tree branches, etc.) while slowing the evaporation of chemical products. Keep in mind that there are many types of pools and covers; it is recommended that you speak with your pool specialist to determine if your cover should be removed before the first snow fall or if it is designed to be left in place throughout the winter.
On above-ground pools for example, covers that extend over the pool walls by 90 cm (3 ft.) can damage the pool in the event of excessive water accumulation, while covers that extend over the rim by 180 cm (6 ft.) provide enough slack to avoid this problem. Regardless on the type of cover you use, it is always a good idea to remove excess water from the top of the cover, leaving just enough (around 2.5 cm [1 in.]) to hold the cover firmly in place. Finally, though snow can accumulate inside an above-ground pool without causing damage, do not allow the accumulation to exceed the top of the pool rim more than 30 cm (1 ft.). |
