Pool Maintenance Quick Tips
Tips for maintaining a clean swimming pool and reducing chemical consumption:

  1. Use an automatic pool cleaner everyday. Or Vacuum at least once a week.
  2. Operate your filtration system all the time. This provides proper circulation.
  3. Maintain a good circulation pattern in your pool. This gives all of the water an opportunity to be filtered.
  4. Keep your Filter media clean:
    • Sand Filter: Backwash weekly or when there is a significant rise in tank pressure. If pressure builds faster than normal clean sand with Fast Flo.
    • Diatomaceous Earth: Follow manufacturers directions for recharging.
    • Cartridge filter: Clean elements regularly and degrease with Filter- Nu.
  5. Do not leave your solar blanket on all of the time. The Blanket will help to keep the pool warm but it also restricts filtration and circulation. Let the pool breathe. Good advice is to put the blanket on at night or ... day
  6. and night if the weather is cool.
  7. Use a solar roller for your blanket. Dragging a blanket on and off the pool without a roller may bring debris into your pool. A blanket stored on the ground is more susceptible to growing algae and other fungi which can be
  8. transferred to your pool water. A solar blanket stored off the ground on a roller will last longer.
  9. Clean your solar blanket. Periodically use Cover Care to clean your solar blanket and keep it free of mold. mildew and algae. This process will add to the life of the blanket and keep your pool cleaner.
  10. Clean the scum line around your pool. A scum line has a chlorine demand and can use up your chlorine residual. Use Tile-X a non abrasive cleaner Vinyl plus a spray on cleaner both are specifically designed for swimming pools and will not etch liners.
  11. Keep your deck clean and free of debris. The dirt on your deck today will be the dirt. in your pool tomorrow. A clean deck looks nicer and is safer.
  12. Fertilizer your lawn before you can open the pool. If you do fertilize your lawn with the pool open be careful to keep it out of the water. Fertilizer helps algae grow.
  13. AIways add chemicals to the pool at night. This will let them be more effective.
  14. Shock pool after heavy use or heavy rain. Both of these will deplete sanitizer levels in your pool and an extra shock treatment will be required.
  15. Follow all the direction on Mursatt chemical packaging. This will give you maximum performance and all the safety precautions.
